Job Summary:
We are seeking a CLINICAL NURSE IIin our Duke Children's Creekstone clinic to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to pediatric specialty patients. Specialties at Creekstones include: Allergy-Immunology, Pulmonology, Neurology, Child Development, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Genetics, Infectious Disease, Hematology-Oncology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology and Adolescent Gynecology.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Completing procedural tasks including: administering immunotherapy injections, oral immunotherapy, oral medications, allergy skin testing and oral food challenges according to protocols and provider orders. Monitor patients for potential reactions to therapy administered. Provide patient/family education, bill for nursing procedures.
Plan, provide and document professional nursing care in ambulatory settings, utilizing nursing process, in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures, under the supervision of the nurse manager, charge nurse or practice manager
Collect and analyze patient data, make recommendations for nursing care plans, evaluate nursing care provided, document and communicate appropriately nursing actions taken and patient responses.
Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers, including but not limited to: Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants/Registered Medical Assistants.
Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing care and serve as team leader.
Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources.
Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and participate in performance improvement activities.
Participate in clinic staff meetings, clinic committees, educational activities, quality improvement projects and other operational projects as assigned.
Assist in the maintenance of the physical environment of the clinic and anticipate potential safety concerns.
Actively participate in unit staff meetings and committee meetings with minimum 80% attendance.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Job Eligibility Requirements:
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.
Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
Job Schedule:
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends and holidays.
