Overview
Atlantic Health System is currently seeking a per diem Cytotechnologist for the Cytology Department at our Atlantic Consolidated Laboratory in Morris Plains to work various shifts including every other weekend.
Responsibilities
- Performs specimen preparation and analysis
- Participates in the FNA biopsy service including rapid on-site assessment to evaluate specimen adequacy
- Documents the slide interpretation results of both Gyn and Non-Gyn cytology cases
- Documents the number of slides read and the number of hours spent examining slides in each 24-hour period
- Recognizes and resolves any specimen related problems or inconsistencies
- Participates in Quality Assurance and Quality Control: performs and documents daily QC according to established laboratory protocol
- Practices Standard Precautions and adheres to all other laboratory safety policies
- Demonstrates knowledge of and practices department safety procedures including the safe handling of chemical and hazardous substances
- Maintains appropriate licensure requirements
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma/GED
- BS (CT) ASCP
Minimum Experience:
- Prior experience working in Cytology is a preferred
- 1-3 years of clinical experience preferred
License/Certifications:
- ASCP Certification is required
