Atlantic Health System is currently seeking a per diem Cytotechnologist for the Cytology Department at our Atlantic Consolidated Laboratory in Morris Plains to work various shifts including every other weekend.
Responsibilities
Performs specimen preparation and analysis
Participates in the FNA biopsy service including rapid on-site assessment to evaluate specimen adequacy
Documents the slide interpretation results of both Gyn and Non-Gyn cytology cases
Documents the number of slides read and the number of hours spent examining slides in each 24-hour period
Recognizes and resolves any specimen related problems or inconsistencies
Participates in Quality Assurance and Quality Control: performs and documents daily QC according to established laboratory protocol
Practices Standard Precautions and adheres to all other laboratory safety policies
Demonstrates knowledge of and practices department safety procedures including the safe handling of chemical and hazardous substances
Maintains appropriate licensure requirements
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma/GED
BS (CT) ASCP
Minimum Experience:
Prior experience working in Cytology is a preferred
1-3 years of clinical experience preferred
License/Certifications:
ASCP Certification is required
